SKATE BOWL
SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE AT THE DEW TOUR PORTLAND INVITATIONAL WITH
BUCKY LASEK WIN
Lasek Tops Pedro Barros for First Place; Portland Native Willis Kimbel
Competes in Super-Final
Portland, Ore. – August 14, 2011 – Bucky Lasek took the top spot
in today’s Skate Bowl Final at the Portland Invitational in front
of packed stands and a high energy crowd. His run in the
Super-Final Jam included a frontside 540 in the corner, a frontside bluntslide
and a backside smith grind over the hip. The combo of a backside lipslide
off the deep end hip to a backside tailslide into the deep end
propelled him over Pantech Open winner Pedro Barros. Andy
Macdonald finished third, with Ben Hatchell and Portland native
Willis Kimbel rounding out the competition in the Super-Final.
“It feels awesome to win in Portland because this is the home of
concrete parks and what better place to win on the portable bowl
at Dew Tour,” said Bucky. “It’s pretty exciting making the run
that I made and making it three times is a great accomplishment
for me. I think lately I’ve had the heart of a tiger, just
attacking it, going for it, living life and skateboarding. That’s
what it’s all about.”
The Portland Invitational marks the second and final stop of the
first-ever full-concrete portable bowl, designed by Spohn Ranch.
The Dew Tour’s skate bowl contest debuted in Ocean City last month
to wide acclaim. In Portland, the venue was home to an exciting
party atmosphere throughout the weekend. This contest marks Lasek’s
first Dew Tour bowl win, adding to his 10 first-place finishes in
Skate Vert.
The Dew Tour will continue on to Salt Lake City, Utah for the
third event of the season for the Toyota Challenge in September,
and culminates this October at the Dew Tour Championships in Las
Vegas, Nev.
