"Rat" Cathcart Ben ads, "Skateboarding is a lifestyle. Its my life. Do it for the love of skating, not to be cool or the best or to get sponsored or any of that shit. Who ever has the most fun wins. I'm a pirate, I live in a van and travel to as many places I can, skate the shit out of it and cut out to the next spot, and I'll be doing it for as long as my legs can hold me up".
June 11th "The procedure is just that I take an old school pic and try to do it a little different. I like going BIG! I love everything about 80's skateboarding. The colors, the shapes, the art. EVERYTHING! It just does something for me. Everyone who skated those days were my heroes. I looked up to all of them. Mountain, Hosoi, CAB, Roskopp, Johnny Kopp, Gonzales. I could go on forever". Nice work Richie, thanks for sharing!

"We are a small group of skaters in Marseille that still think that rad trannies and pools are THE FUCK!!! We skated some spots around but it was not enough, we wanted something really gnarly and underground. We got bored of the fake and so lame fashion movement that skateboard is embrassing these last years. So we decided to leave the bowl (Marseille bowl) to find new places to build our own definition of what skateboarding is all about : simpleness, friendship, fun, and dangerous dirty spots. We made a first spot called "La caverne" and we learned a lot. Then we found old basins on a hill and we started "La bassine". The comon fact with the spots we build is that they are on forbidden terrain. We are not allowed to be there, which makes it more fun! Everything is hand made : concrete mixing, coping, carrying dirt and water... we are like ants, we carry everything on our back. That's why we are not so many involved in this rolling adventure... it's a lot of work and most of the skaters we know are too lazy... We are 100% skateboarders, we live it 7/24, even if everyone has his own work and life. True skateboarders. That's what we are, well, at least we try to keep this kind of spirit alive. No pain no gain." Thanks to Mat and Mehdi for all the info! Please keep us informed on all future projects!

Doug stoked us with a bio and a bunch of old shots throughout his long career as a pro skater. Doug's love for the world of skateboarding began in 1986 around age 12, after seeing Back to the Future for the first time. He and his buddies spent every available moment on their boards throughout junior high and high school. While the skateboarding trend has waxed and waned in popularity, Doug's commitment to the sport remained constant. Even when his time was stretched between his music career and traditional business ventures, he maintained a regular schedule of practicing and honing his skills.

US Snowboard Grand Prix Mt. Bachelor - Superpipe The second leg of the three stop US Snowboarding Grand Prix landed in Central Oregon February 3rd, which drew out dozens of the worlds top snowboarders. Steve Fisher prevailed, with Louie Vito and Tommy Czeschin landing seats on the podium. Fisher's victory came less than a week after adding another X Games gold medal to his collection. Fisher's first run of a frontside air, backside 540, frontside 720, cab 720, frontside 900 to backside method, put him on top. Steve Fischer, 26, was one of the few finalists to throw down a super clean run, nailing back to back 900s, hands never touching the pipe.

Jan 6th Submits from Mike Horelick @Tunnel Surf &Skate. Vintage shots of the team - true roots of skating! Tunnel Skateboards was founded in 1975 by surfer Mitch Haake. Named after the favorite California skate spots -concrete tunnels- skateboarders soon learned that Tunnel meant quality, speed and style. Mitch also created the Tunnel Rock, the fastest, hardest wheel of the 70s. Old School Dogtown skaters discovered the Tunnel Rock after they were brought into the group by Team Tunnel members. Before long, Stacy Peralta, Shogo Kubo, Jim Muir, Tony Alva, Marty Grimes and Jay Adams were ripping pools on their Tunnel Rocks. Tunnel, to this day, still continues to export quality decks, wheels and other style. Look for em at a store near you! Jan 2nd - Photos by Bruce Rodela of Dublin California.
